Overview

Cursor is an AI-powered code editor built on VS Code that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP). For teams that aren't familiar with it, think of Cursor as a code editor with a built-in AI assistant that can interact with external tools and data sources. Amplemarket connects to Cursor through the same MCP server used by ChatGPT and Claude (https://mcp.amplemarket.com/mcp), giving Cursor's AI assistant full access to your sales data.

This integration is designed for technical teams, sales engineers, RevOps developers, and developer advocates who spend their working hours in a code editor and don't want to context-switch to a browser every time they need prospect data, account details, or pipeline metrics. Instead of opening Amplemarket in a new tab, you ask Cursor's AI assistant directly. "Pull the enriched profile for this prospect" or "Show me our sequence performance this quarter," and the data appears inline, right where you're working.

The capabilities are the same as the ChatGPT and Claude integrations: search prospects, enrich contacts and companies, create and manage lead lists, and query analytics. The difference is the context. In Cursor, you're typically building something, a demo, a script, an integration, a report. Having sales data accessible in the same environment where you're writing code means you can pull prospect details into a demo configuration, query Amplemarket data while building a RevOps automation, or research an account while drafting a technical proposal, all without breaking your flow.

What you can do

  • Search prospects from your editor Query Amplemarket's prospect database directly from Cursor. Search by company, title, industry, location, or any combination of filters. Results appear in the Cursor chat panel alongside your code.
  • Enrich contacts and companies inline Enrich a person or company and get the results right in your editor. Useful when you're building a demo and need real prospect data, or when you're writing an outreach script and want to reference verified details.
  • Query analytics without switching tabs Pull sequence performance, reply rates, and outreach metrics by asking Cursor's AI assistant. "What are our open rates for the last 30 days?" gives you the answer without opening a browser.
  • Manage lead lists programmatically Create lead lists, add contacts, and organize prospects through conversational commands in Cursor. Particularly useful for RevOps teams building list-management automations or scripts.
  • Contextualize code with sales data When building integrations, demos, or internal tools, pull live Amplemarket data into your workflow. Reference real prospect profiles in test configurations, validate data transformations against actual enrichment results, or populate demo environments with current account data.

How it works

  1. Open Cursor Launch Cursor IDE. If you haven't installed it yet, download it from cursor.com. Cursor is free to start and runs on Mac, Windows, and Linux.
  2. Add Amplemarket MCP server Go to Cursor Settings, navigate to the MCP section, and add a new server. Paste the Amplemarket MCP URL: https://mcp.amplemarket.com/mcp. Authenticate with your Amplemarket credentials when prompted. OAuth 2.0 handles the connection securely.
  3. Start querying Open Cursor's AI chat panel and ask anything that involves your Amplemarket data. "Find CTOs at fintech companies in New York" or "Enrich this company and tell me their tech stack." Cursor's AI assistant retrieves the data through MCP and presents it inline.

Use cases

Sales engineer building a custom demo

You're preparing a live demo for a prospect's technical team. Instead of switching to Amplemarket in the browser, you ask Cursor: "Enrich Acme Corp and show me their tech stack, company size, and any contacts we have in their engineering org." The data appears in your chat panel. You pull the relevant details into your demo configuration file, customizing the demo with the prospect's actual industry, scale, and technical environment without leaving your editor.

RevOps automating list segmentation

You're writing a Python script that segments leads based on enrichment data. From Cursor, you query: "Search for all contacts in our 'Enterprise Pipeline' list and show me their industries and company sizes." The results come back inline. You use the data to validate your segmentation logic, test edge cases with real records, and iterate on the script, all in one window. When the script is ready, you ask Cursor to create a new list with the segmented results.

Developer advocate researching accounts for content

You're writing a technical blog post about how companies in the AI infrastructure space are scaling their sales operations. You ask Cursor: "Search for VP of Sales and CRO at AI companies with 100-500 employees. Enrich the top 5 companies." The enrichment data gives you real-world context, company sizes, growth signals, tech stacks, that you weave into your post. You never leave the editor where you're writing the draft.

Frequently asked questions

Cursor is an AI-powered code editor based on VS Code. While it's built for developers, its AI chat interface is conversational. You don't need to write code to query Amplemarket data. If you're comfortable typing questions in natural language, you can use the integration. That said, Cursor is most valuable for people who already work in a code editor as part of their daily workflow.

The underlying connection is identical. All three use the same Amplemarket MCP server and offer the same data access. The difference is the environment. Claude and ChatGPT are standalone AI assistants in a browser or app. Cursor is a code editor with an embedded AI assistant. Choose Cursor if you spend most of your time in an IDE and want sales data accessible alongside your code.

Go to Cursor Settings, find the MCP section, and add a new server with the URL https://mcp.amplemarket.com/mcp. Cursor will prompt you to sign in with your Amplemarket account through an OAuth 2.0 flow. No API keys or manual configuration required. Your credentials are handled securely and the connection persists across sessions.

It's two-way. You can search, enrich, and read data, but you can also create lead lists, add contacts to lists, and perform other write operations. The same actions available through the ChatGPT and Claude integrations are available in Cursor. Your account permissions determine what you can access and modify.

The MCP integration works through Cursor's AI chat panel, where you interact with the built-in AI assistant. It does not connect to Cursor's terminal directly. If you need programmatic access to Amplemarket data in your terminal or scripts, use the REST API instead.
